Mississauga City Centre’s Rich History

The Mississauga City Centre downtown core dates back to 1951, when developer Bruce McLaughlin purchased 4,000 acres of land and proposed a $5-billion City Centre Plan. The Plan, adopted by City Council in 1969 resulted in a major land swap and the movement of Mississauga City Hall and The Mississauga City Centre to the corner of Burnhamthorpe Road and Hurontario Street. The area developed over the following decades. Square One Shopping Centre opened in 1973; followed by The Mississauga Civic Centre in July of 1987. In 1997, the Living Arts Centre opened with a magnificent 225,000 square foot facility. And most recently, Mississauga Celebration Square opened to the public in June 2011.

Today, the Mississauga City Centre continues to grow at a rapid pace with many new developments coming on each year and an extensive plan for future development underway.

About Absolute Condos

Free from imperfection, complete and perfect – these are dictionary descriptions for the word Absolute. And the Absolute Condos, Mississauga’s new landmark buildings, exemplify these attributes beautifully.
Two curvy Absolute World Condominiums, one dubbed the “Marilyn Monroe” building and the less wavy building to the north of it are 50- and 40-stories of engineering perfection. Each egg-shaped suite curves from the centre like a deck of cards, and has a balcony running the length of the unit, offering picturesque views of the city. High ceilings and exquisite finishings abound in these award winning buildings. Abundant parking is available in 6 levels underground.  Exclusive lounges and terraces are located on the top floor of each building.  30,000 Square Feet of Amenities are found in the Absolute Club, including a gym; indoor running track; exercise complex; outdoor pool with fireplace; indoor pool; whirlpool, spas & steam rooms; squash court; party rooms; guest suites, and a full-time activity director. Complementing the plan are 3 other fully-built structures that make up the Absolute City Centre plan.

Conveniently located at the heart of the city core, along Hurontario St and Burnhamthorpe Rd, nestled in among a natural grove and flanked by business and condos, these buildings are located across from Square One shopping, Mississauga Transit’s Hub, and a 2-minute drive to the Cooksville Go Station. Highway 403 is a minute away and the 401 can be reached in 5 minutes. Walking is a great way to explore the many amenities at your doorstep here, such as Mississauga City Hall (and Centre Square), the Central Library, the Living Arts Centre, the YMCA, movie theatres and quality restaurants.
