WE WELCOME THE WORLD CENTRES: If you are new to Canada and need to register, our We Welcome the World Centres are now open. Three We Welcome the World Centres provide a range of services to help make the transition to school a smooth one for newcomer students and their families. Multilingual staff help with registration. All students from grades 1 to 12 receive an orientation interview, which gives shcools useful information to help support new students. As well, the centres offer childminding, settlement services and parent workshops in many languages, and parents can learn about adult education opportunities - all in 1 place. THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS SEPTEMBER 8, 2009: Staff will be in schools on Wednesday, September 2 and Thursday, September 3 for mandatory professional learning days. Elementary schools will be open and have staff available for student registration before the start of school. Parents are welcome to register students on Thursday, August 27, Friday, August 28, Monday, August 31, Tuesday, September 1 and Friday, September 4, 2009. Each secondary school has specific times for registration and these are available on http://www.peelschools.org/ or by calling the school.
